Many listeners forget that the classical tradition is still alive today. Contemporary composers work with a revised musical vocabulary and within a changed landscape from their predecessors, factors which sometimes discourage even the most devoted fans of the classics from listening to their music. With his interest in new music, Jackson has sought out the music of contemporary composers and has even had the chance to interview a few. Although the project is still in its beginnings, Jackson hopes that the interviews he conducts will bring greater exposure to these composers and, in some cases, act as the first scholarship of their music.
